Atlas and Plat of Furnas County

1916

Compiled by Kenyon Co. Mapmakers, Des Moines, Iowa

<------->

The original book is 16 by 18 inches. Each map will take about two minutes to load to a monitor. Anyone doing research in Furnas county should be able to locate their ancestors land and determine land description from what is on the map.

The land grant patents or homestead applications are not located at Beaver City, Furnas county, Nebraska. This county when homesteading was going on was named Lincoln county. I have called the court house at North Platte and they tell me that they have the patent book dating from 1869. So anyone searching for land grant patent may well have to get it from the Registar of Deeds at North Platte.

I have not seen the book yet so I don't know if it is actually the one from what is now Furnas county, I suspect that it is. The court house at Furnas county has no land grant patent records listed in the Grantor Grantee books.

PS: Just a note, the German immigrants in the northwest area of Arapahoe twp all arrived between 1870 and 1885. The research I have done shows they all came from Buccholz, Prussia which today is near Minden, Westfalia, Germany. They all have very good records dating back to the early 1700's.
